ICA Webcast:  Black Sky/Catastrophic Emergency Planning
Tuesday, January 30th at 2:30 pm

Q:  Just what is a Black Sky Event?

A:  A long-term, widespread electrical outage caused by natural forces or man-made.

The Alliance has assembled a team of experts to begin discussions on how our industry might begin to prepare for a  Black Sky event.  Something that might cause a power outage over several states for a period of several months.  Something that will stress our backup plans beyond recognition and current ability to respond.  That is why we need to start talking and thinking about steps our industry can take to be more prepared.

Join us for a webcast on Tuesday, January 30th at 2:30 pm.

Presenters include Vicky McKim, Aureon
Frank Bulk, Premier Communications
Micah Cope, BKD
Dave Duncan, ICA

Discussion items will include:

  1. An overview of industry participation in Homeland Security Meetings
  2. A summary of our Black Sky work group efforts and overview of ITC member preparedness
  3. Preliminary discussion of a Black Sky/Cyber-attack “resource list”
  4. Best practices and talking points for members to use in beginning discussions with county emergency management personnel
