2023 CyberCon | Call for Proposals

Iowa Communications Alliance is planning for the 2023 CyberCon VII held on May 17-18th. The in-person conference will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in West Des Moines, Iowa. We are looking for dynamic, impactful, and educational presentations valuable for the ICA membership.

With hosting over 150 attendees including technicians, chief technology officers, General Managers, CEOs, and office staff this is a great opportunity to showcase your cybersecurity expertise.

We are seeking topics from different levels such as non-technical and technical sessions including deep dives for the advanced role. Please indicate on the speaker submission form which levels your presentation best fits.

Topics of Interest
Submissions are not limited to the following topics, but the membership is particularly interested in proposals for the following:

Technical Sessions:

  • Securing mobile devices
  • Zero Trust Networking essentials
  • Update on the new Federal cybersecurity requirements with regards to grant programs
  • Implementing 2FA/MFA in different environments including:
    • Microsoft ActiveDirectory and Windows clients
    • Key/core applications
    • Network equipment
    • Capture the Flag exercise Firewall/router security configuration

Non-Technical Sessions:

  • Benchmarking your cybersecurity program
  • Training your employees for a Phishing attack
  • Communicating with your board
  • Board responsibilities in preparation for an attack
  • Office 365 101- Training and Security Score
  • Passwords 101 (new attendees) and 201 (repeat attendees)
  • Cybersecurity 101 (new attendees) and 201 (repeat attendees)
  • How to promote cybersecurity to your customers
  • Cyber security and the Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Getting started with Incident Response for small business

General Sessions:

  • Update on the new Federal cybersecurity requirements with regard to grant programs
  • Developing a cyber-conscious employee culture
  • Incident response/breaches outlook from different areas including Legal, Cyber-forensics, Insurance, and Public Relations.
  • Supply chain security
  • Ransomware and backups/recovery for offline solutions? (i.e., billing, customer databases)
