Alliance Urges Congressional Delegation to Support Call Completion Bill

The Alliance is participating in the final push in the run up to next week’s possible Senate hearing on rural call completion legislation, S.827. The House version of the bill, H.R. 2566, was introduced by Iowa 3rd District Congressman David Young (R-Van Meter) and is currently co-sponsored by Iowa 2nd District Congressman Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa City).

Unfortunately, while the legislation in both chambers has bipartisan support, the remaining four members of the Iowa Congressional Delegation have yet to indicate their support for the bill. The Alliance, in coordination with NTCA outreach, are contacting Senators Grassley and Ernst and Congressmen Blum and King to encourage their co-sponsorship of their chambers relevant versions of the bill.

Please consider joining the effort by sending letters/emails of support to the following contacts:

House Panel to Examine Controversial FCC Rulings

The House Communications and Technology Subcommittee will hold a hearing on July 12, 2016, on oversight of the FCC.  Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) has asked all five FCC Commissioners to testify and respond to questions about alleged “mismanagement” of the Lifeline program, and other recent highly-publicized FCC developments including the proposed privacy rules on broadband ISPs, the set-top box proposal, and the importance of an open and transparent process within the FCC.  More details including livestreaming information should be released in the near future.
