Rural broadband is a foundation for long-term rural prosperity and the wellbeing of our society. However, there lacks investment in the research and development of communication technologies specifically targeting the unique needs of rural communities and economy. To fill the gap and leveraging potential investment from the National Science Foundation Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research (PAWR) program and Industry-University Collaborative Research Center (IUCRC) program, Iowa State University (ISU) is leading initiatives intending to establish a world-class living lab and research center for rural communication and networking systems and associated training and workforce development. ISU is very interested in partnering with rural telcos, associations, equipment/service vendors, and communities in planning and running the living lab and research center, and this webinar is meant to help initiate the dialog between the ISU team leads and ICA members in potential collaboration in these exciting initiatives.
